Forest School

We have fantastic facilities which include a fire circle, a pond, a wildflower meadow, grass and wooded areas. All our children have the experience of forest school from our reception children to our year 6 children. They get to experience all the different seasons first hand and different weather. The sessions are led by qualified level 3 Forest school practitioner and are designed to build on the children’s skills sets from Reception through to year 6. They are given time and space to explore their environment, take risks, understand boundaries and choose their learning. The children develop their teamwork skills, negotiation, problem solving, friendship building and better understand their place in the world. Throughout years 5 and 6 children will begin to develop their leadership skills by taking on a variety of responsibilities.

“The advancement of education for public benefit through promotion and support of quality Forest School in the United Kingdom using any means to enable all children, young people and adults to benefit from increased opportunities for high quality and varied educational experiences in the natural world.” Forest School Association.

The National Trust believes for future generations to care about and want to help and protect the natural world, they need to connect with it first hand. Forest School gives them that opportunity.

All the life skills that are developed during their time outside, help them with their learning within the classroom. We develop empathy, practical maths, resilience, determination and celebrating each other's achievements.
