Update Monday 4th May 2021

Hi Everyone,

Reminder that the last INSET of the year is on Monday 17th May - this will be a day closure

We hope you all had a great weekend and like us, are very much looking forward to further easing of restrictions in the next few months. There will be some changes over the coming weeks because we'd like to be able to ease everyone into returning to 'normal' bit by bit, rather than all in one go. This hopefully, will create a smoother, more understandable transition for the children.

Advance warning of change of times - proposed 21st June
To give you all plenty of notice, we are planning on returning to our normal school hours on 21st June. This is dependent on Government restrictions at the time, but at the moment we are expecting that this is the date when the need for social distancing is removed. If this is the case, all drop off and pick up times will be the same and we can return to our normal hours.
These are (even I needed to remind myself 😁)
Gates open 8:30
Doors open at 8:35
Need to be in class by 8:45
Register 8:50
(Marked as late from 9:00)
School ends 15:00

Breakfast Club/Year 6 change of door
The area outside the library has needed to be closed due to investigational work on a chimney stack. This means the door that is used for breakfast club and Year 6 is temporarily out of bounds.
For breakfast club, children and staff in Year 6, please enter and exit through the staffroom.
Alternative emergency exits are known and will be used by Year 6 and occupants in this part of the building.

PE Days
From Thursday this week, we will be returning to a more normal timetable with full PE sessions. On the days that your child has PE, they will be able to wear their PE kit to school rather than their normal school uniform. Hopefully, this will help with the current need to change and wash clothes daily and will limit the movement of additional items in school from home. It will also allow the children to benefit from the full 1 hour of physical activity without interfering with other essential lessons. To keep warm, school jumpers and jogging bottoms can be worn over shorts and t-shirts. Trainers can be worn on these days.

PE days will be -
Birch:    Thursday.
Elm:       Thursday
Hazel:    Wednesday
Olive:     Monday
Pine:       Wednesday
Willow:  Tuesday
Maple:    Friday

Thank you as usual for your ongoing support. It seems the removal of restrictions will be just as complex as putting them in place, but together, I have no doubt, we can manage it all.

Stay safe,
Janette McClintock (she/her)
