Bubble update 5th November 2020

Hi Everyone,

Reminder: tomorrow is a mufti day. We are asking for donations of non-perishable food for the local food bank.

Bubbles

As expected, there have been many questions and comments about the changes we needed to make yesterday. This is perfectly ok and I thought it would be useful to share some of the more frequently needed answers to help clarify our position on using bubbles.

  • Up until now ‘a class’ has meant the same thing as ‘a bubble’. From today, this is not the case.
  • Children will still mainly mix with others in their own class only (not the other class attached to their bubble).
  • When a bubble consists of more than one class, this does not mean all the children in both classes will physically mix, for example at break time. Each class within the bubble will still spend their time separate from other classes.
  • The classes will be considered as one bubble because a member of staff or a few children have access to a teaching area or staff member from both classes within the bubble. For example, Mr Kurn will teach children from the Y3 class and the Y4 class and a few children will be taught in a mixed Y3/ 4 group for a session a day but definitely not all of them, all of the time.
  • We have decided to do this to make the most of every learning opportunity while minimising the risk of transmition from one person to another.
  • In the example above it would mean that if Mr Kurn was tested positive for Covid, all children in both the Y3 and Y4 class (the entire bubble) would need to go home as they could all have potentially had close enough contact with Mr Kurn. If however, child A in Year 3 has a positive test result but did not have the opportunity for close contact with children from Year 4, only the children in Year 3 would need to self-isolate (partial bubble closure).

Hopefully this helps a little to understand our reasoning. It can be confusing so please keep asking questions if you feel at all anxious about our decision.

Thank you again for your understanding and support. It is a real pleasure to serve such a thoughtful community.

Stay safe,
