Friday update 9th October 2020

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all keeping well.

We are now very much in the swing of our new term. Our new phonics provision in Year R-3, Read, Write Inc, is well underway and the children are very much getting used to ‘Fred talk’ and ‘my turn/your turn’. Please ask them about it and hopefully they will be able to explain. It has already been brilliant to see an increase in confidence of early reading skills and to have children very keen to share their reading book with you.

Individual Photographs

We are very keen to maintain a bit of normal and I know how lovely it is to receive new school photos each year. This year, you will still have the opportunity to buy individual school photos. When in school, the photographer will need to adhere to our strict expectations around hygiene and distancing and there are a few changes to the way photographs will be ordered and paid for. It will be essential that we currently hold an up to date e mail for you so please let the office know if you think this is not the case. Next week, we will be sending out a form asking whether you would like your child to have their photograph taken. If you do not, please make sure you let us know via this form and then we will not be expecting your child to make the unnecessary journey to the hall to have their photograph taken. We will then send an e mail detailing further information from the photo company Tempest for all those still wishing to have the option to buy school photographs.

Stranger danger

Please  remind your child(ren) not to talk to or engage with people they do not know. Earlier this week, Guildford Schools had a notification from Police about a man who had approached some children inappropriately. Please be vigilant  and encourage your child(ren) to walk with friends when they are not with you.

I hope you all have a very enjoyable weekend.

Stay safe,
