Daily update 23rd June 2020

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all well. It’s definitely time for an ice pop, a shady spot under a tree or a paddle in a pool. Not that I’m complaining of course.
We have had another really successful day in school. Y1 have managed some great text mapping, YR have been busy catching up with their phonic work, Y6 have brushed up on their essential maths and English skills and this afternoon, our keyworker group have been practising their cartoon drawings. Today the challenge was to draw a monster – very good guys 😊

More children returning to school:
We are really pleased to be finalising arrangements for the children for next week. We have had a few hitches with staffing. Unfortunately, this is to be expected and an inevitable part of our new normal at present. There are just so many new arrangements to be made for everyone. As things stand, we are still expecting to have most of YR, Y1, Y5 and Y6 in school for much of the week from Monday. (We will still be closed on Wednesday afternoon for a deep clean.) Once I have finalised the last few bits in the morning, I will be able to send out the letters confirming the arrangements to the families concerned.

September:
For those of you who will still be working hard at home until the end of term, we are thinking of you and missing you very much. We are still hoping to be back to our full classes, full time in September but as I’m sure you can appreciate, we are unable to commit to any definite plan as yet. I know this is frustrating, especially as so many of you need to make childcare arrangements, so as soon as I know anything for sure, I will let you know. I think we can assume though that Year 2, 3 and 4 will be back at least part time with YR, 1, 5 and 6 being at least the same as they are at the end of this term. Miss Hook, Miss Byng, Mrs Knight and myself will all be working during some of the summer break to ensure we have everything we need in place and that you are kept up to date.

Lastly, I’ve included a lovely leaflet about why creativity is important and how you can promote this at home (click here to read it). I know many of us are flagging a little at the moment and maybe keen to try something different so it may well give you a bit of inspiration if there are ideas you haven’t already tried. Personally, the thought of being under the shade of a tree, reading a book with my feet in ice cool water will help keep me going until the end of the day. 😊

Please remember to contact us if there is anything you need.
Stay safe,
