Daily update 5th June 2020

Hi everyone!

Hope you have something nice planned for the weekend. It looks like it might rain but at least the grass will have been watered.

We are really looking forward to seeing more of you from next week and are fully prepared and raring to go. Miss Byng and myself will be out on the playground to help you when you need to drop off and pick up so please do not worry if you are not yet sure of what to do. We can talk you through it... from a distance of 2 meters of course. 😊

I would like to use today’s update to say many thank yous. First to all the teaching staff who have been working quietly from home, supporting the children who access their learning and thinking of tasks that can be accessible at home. They have effectively devised a whole new way of learning and curriculum from scratch with no notice and to them all I am very grateful – a fabulous effort, well done guys.

I’d also like to say a massive thank you to the office staff who have continued supporting the needs of the school in many ways. Again, they have needed to learn new ways of doing the simplest task and have done so without a single complaint. Thank you!

Mrs Cole has managed to work out and master three voucher systems and still has hair (well fingers crossed, at least I think she does). She has worked tirelessly throughout making sure we can continue to support you all. Well done Mrs Cole!

A wondrous shout out needs to also go to all the staff who have continued to come into school to support the children of our keyworkers. There have been times when this has been quite challenging but they have all done so with a smile for the children, making them feel welcome. Thank you all.

I would like to say a hugely massive thank you to Miss Byng, Miss Hook and Mrs Knight. They have been absolute superstars rushing around delivering vouchers, food parcels, packs of work and goodness know what else. I have such a great team here and am truly grateful for everything they all do.

Lastly, but definitely not leastly, I would like to thank all of you – families at home - who  have worked with us to make the most of the situation we found ourselves in. Well done for being patient and kind, supporting us and communicating with us openly. I am very proud to be a part of the Weyfield Community.

I finally finished my May challenge this week (a few days late, but I guess  I have been a bit busy). 2573 flights of stairs! Thanks to all who have made kind donations, sent messages of support and created a flag for me to wave. I really appreciate your support.

Hopefully, it will not be too much longer now before we will start to see each other again. Take care and stay safe,

Janette McClintock
