Daily update 20th May 2020

Hi Everyone,

Apologies for this update not arriving yesterday – we had a technical issue.

How lovely to see Jack and Lucy’s work wall... well done, we can see you have both been really busy.

Preparations for the reopening of school to more children

Mrs Hook and I spent much of today planning for the reopening of school for more children. If you are a parent or carer of a child in YR, Y1 and/or Y6 you will have been asked to comment on whether you would like your child to return to school on June 1st. I understand that this is not an easy decision to make for many of you, especially as you have not yet been given greater details of what that might look like for you and your child. Over the rest of this week, I will be able to share plans and information with you so you can feel more comfortable with making this decision. We have had a couple of questions from parents that and thought it would be good to share the answers with you all.

  1. Do I have to send my child to school if in YR, Y1 or Y6

A: you are currently under no legal obligation to send your child to school when we reopen in June.

  1. Do I need to decide right now and can I change my mind?

A: There is no rush for you to make the decision. There is capacity within our planning for you to change your mind as the easing of lockdown progresses.

We now have a broad indication of the children that may return and have accommodated space for  more children in each of the year groups affected to welcome others once you feel it is safe to do so. We are delighted to hear that we will be welcoming more children very soon and also fully understand if you do not feel able to send your child yet due to your home situation. Every family’s circumstances are different and it is important that each family is able to make their own decision for now.

Please do not hesitate if you would like to discuss this with us further.

Stay safe,

Janette McClintock
